I have about 50 new twins looking for Canadian conferences and councils who would be willing to support them spiritually and materially through twinning.
Have you been considering twinning as a work of your conference or council?
What would motivate your conference to join us in twinning?

Business number

It is important that all conferences and councils obtain a Business Number from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Someone from CRA has been invited to give a presentation at our AGA in June, in Toronto.
Extract from Revenue Canada website: Under no circumstances should a registered charity lend its registration number to another organization for receipting purposes. A registered charity is responsible for all tax receipts issued under its name and number and must account for the corresponding donations on its annual information return. A charity that lends its registration number risks losing its charitable registration.
The parish, which your conference is attached to, cannot issue receipts for donations to the conference. The conference should have its own registration number.

I really enjoy and use the website. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to keep abreast of Vincentian matters, to order materials and just to feel a part of the national Society. A suggestion: Would it be possible to have an on-line version of The Rule and Satutes? It would be great to be able to read the Rule on-line and to be able to search for information.

St. Michael, Calgary has decided to twin but members have inquired about accountability of the recipient for the funds provided.
Can the twinning commitment be sent for the year rather than quartely?

Yes, the funds can be sent for the year. You simply have to indicate it on the transmittal form. You have 2 choices on the form: "Amount sent for one quarter" or "Amount sent for 4 quarters".
